Maruti Suzuki is reportedly preparing to introduce a new mid-size SUV in the Indian market, expected to be called the .Escudo. The model, rumored to carry the internal codename Y17, will likely be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara and sold through the company’s Arena dealerships, as per a report published in NDTV.

These could include a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, an all-digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof.

As per available reports, the Maruti Suzuki Escudo is likely to come with multiple powertrain options. The standard 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to deliver 101.65 hp and 139 Nm of torque. A CNG variant could offer 86.79 hp, while a strong hybrid version may produce a total output of 113.97 hp.
Transmission choices are expected to include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and an e-CVT for the hybrid variant. Buyers may also get options between 2WD and 4WD, with the latter using Suzuki’s AllGrip technology.
